Baluchistan national party has suffered the worse of the state violence in 2010.

Baluch tribes have had traditional rivalries among themselves. Baluch tribes have encountered each other during the colonial rule. They have been encountering each other during the Pakistan and Iranian colonial rules. Tribal movement always perceived as created and instigated to action by special interests that time and again masked for class privilege.
Pakistan is feudal and tribal state. Feudal and tribal leaders control Pakistan’s institutions, they have always been in position to protect each other’s interests. Pakistan establishment have tolerated Baluch tribal private wars. Tribal disobedience has never been a challenge to state.
Tribal chiefs do not and cannot present Baluch masses interests in general and rising middle classes interest in general because tribal chiefs control tribal home land and receive grant from state for good behaviour.
Baluchistan is a tribal society the tribesman has a sentiment of belonging to a tribe; tribesman lack a sentiment of nation, neither tribe has structure of nation or state.
Baluch have undertaken transformation from tribal society into nationalism. Modern communication and education, and modern economy have eroded the traditional Baluch tribal societies.
Tribal chiefs have lost the moral legitimacy, because modern educated Baluch have challenged their legitimacy. Pakistan’s establishment have been finding it tricky to deal with educated Baluch. Educated elite with their secular education have return to reconstruct the Baluch nationalism based on equality rule of law one man one vote.

The Baluchistan national party has suffered the worse of the state violence in 2010. It is the fact that the BNP has been led by the tribal chieftain, but the BNP members are the middle class businessmen, state wage earners who have been the victim of target killing by the state paramilitary forces and intelligence agencies. Middle classes professional have not got a tribe to protect them it easy for state to eliminate them, the growing middle classes are the challenge to state as well as to the traditional tribal society.
The state has deliberately targeted middle classes educated in order to deprive the Baluch nation from meaningful leadership to lead nation to the national liberation. Baluch recent history has proven that the tribal chiefs demand always have been limited to personal privileges.

BNP is political organisation it has a political party structure, and vote bank its leadership have proven in the past that they have mobilised people around a cause. BNP has a pivotal role in mobilising Baluch masses, and to build consensus among the Baluch masses as well as among tribal chiefs. Some of the BNP’s members vulnerability to violence and likely threat to the integrity of failed state will expose them to more danger unless, all Baluch united against state, so far unity has not been the case.
