Baloch National Doctrine

Let’s first understand what national doctrine is and why it is so important for a nation to have one. National doctrine is a set of guidelines of policies and principles a nation choose to follow which reflect the cultural, social, historical, and political ideology of the nation. We should not be confused between national doctrine and constitution. A national doctrine is nation’s vision, mission and ideology on the other hand a constitution is based on national doctrine and bear legal importance. National doctrine not only serves you when devising foreign and internal polices but it would also safeguard you from your own friends and foes. Once a nation develop consensus on preset policies and principles then any conspiracy against the national interest would easily be turned down.

A thorough study of Baloch nationalist politics reveals that base of all conflict and confusion is and always been due to the lack of Baloch National Doctrine. Few weeks back I was reading an article called “Talibanization of Baloch Society”, writer of this article urged all Baloch political parties to defuse this conspiracy against Baloch nation because “Baloch Nation is known for its characteristics of being secular and progressive”. Don’t you agree with me that this sentence is a part of National Doctrine, are we secular and progressive? If answer is yes then why not include it in national doctrine. If there was a National Doctrine then this conspiracy of Pakistan to push Baloch society to religious extremism would be failed on its initial stages. In past it might not be easy to develop such a doctrine for Baloch nation but now it is the right time. Baloch masses are now ready more than ever and desperately demanding for their freedom.

Baloch leadership has to come forward and start preparing a national doctrine. Due to the current political situation on ground it won’t be difficult to implement it effectively. We are demanding for free Balochistan but can anybody tell us what type of government free Balochistan would have. Will it be a Presidential System, Parliamentary System, Constitutional Monarchy or any other system? Free Balochistan will be an energy rich country but what would be its energy policy? Questions from foreign policy to judicial system all need to be answered and documented. This type of documented set of policies and principles will strengthen the case of free Balochistan when presented before the international community. It will also help us to prepare the constitution of free Balochistan. It might not be a good example but let’s learn from the mistakes of Pakistani Establishment. It took them 23 years to prepare a futile constitution after their so-called independence. Today Pakistan is called the most confused and unnatural state. We are far better than them as we have a history, culture and language. Baloch is a complete nation with all its definition.

Sadly, nobody is even thinking about it. We all know that something is missing, something is lagging us behind but we never think of Baloch National Doctrine. Baloch intellectuals like Dr. Inyat Ullah, Jan Mohamed Dasti, Nazir Dasti, Dr. Hameed Baloch and others can provide great help in drafting a doctrine. It might not be an easy task neither it will be ready overnight but the secret of finishing a job is to start it. All our leaders need to do is to come forward and initiate the process.
