What Future for Balochistan?

Brussels, 25 February 2013 – In an effort to shed light on the key role Balochistan plays in South Asia, the Unrepresented Nations and Peoples Organization (UNPO)convened a conference entitled “Global and Regional Security Challenges in South Asia: What Future for Balochistan”, which took place at The Royal Society, London on 24 February 2013. Key speaker at this conference, U.S. Congressman Dana Rohrabacher, gave a poignant speech urging for the freedom of the Baloch people. The Congressman requested a referendum to be held in Balochistan on the question of independence, which would challenge the claims by Islamabad that the Baloch want to be part of Pakistan. Dana Rohrabacher called for  Pakistani officials to be tried for war crimes. Congressman Brian Higgins (D-NY) was also present.

The present population of Baluch, is more or less 25-30 million. The Baluch is one among the few state-less nations in the world. Majority of the Baluch are dwelled in Pakistan, Iran and Afghanistan. A large number of Baluch  lives in the Gulf States and a small population in the European countries.

The boundaries that divide Baluchistan into three countries are artificial. The Baluch have never accepted these artificial boundaries and the Baluch nation appeals to the international communities  not to give legitimacy to these immoral and artificial boundaries. These boundaries have divided father from son, brothers from sisters tribes from its land. The boundaries which have divided the Baluch and turned the Baluch into minority in each state and again divided them between provinces within states are not sustainable.

My appeal to Baluch nation is; do not allow any one to label you helpless, indigenous people. You are a nation under foreign occupations. It is your right to resist the occupation like every other occupied nation that has done before you in order to get rid of the occupiers.

The Baluch are high achievers. The Baluch will not submit to Punjabi and Persian rules. The future of the Baluch is in a democratic united independent Baluchistan.  The Baluch nation will do what is necessary to regain their independence.

The United Nations is a club of nations with states. The United Nations and its organisations have failed the Baluch. They have nothing to offer to the Baluch. They are listening to Punjabi and Persian elites because they represent the states.

Pakistan tested its nuclear Bomb in Baluchistan and has polluted the environment for thousands of years to come. The United Nation and international communities have tolerated Pakistan to pollute the Baluch land.

 The Baluch are being killed by Pakistan army and their dead bodies dumped in the wilderness as I speak to you. The Baluch human rights and dignities have been violated because the United Nation and international organisations have allowed Pakistan

The Iranian dehumanise the Baluch and hang Baluch on cranes in groups every month if not every day on the fake charges, the United Nations and international organisations allow the Iranian elite to kill the Baluch.

In order to protect the Baluch lives dignity and honour. The Baluch must be protected by the shield of sovereign state. The Baluch should move towards achieving United Independent Baluchistan that is their historical and natural right.

Iran and pakistan both are a threat for the whole world peace.

Independent Baluchistan will bring peace for the world, stability in the region, free trade for Afghanistan and central Asia. Without Independent Baluchistan Afghanistan and other central Asian countries are destined to be failed states. Independent Baluchistan is not only a hope for the Baluch it will also bring hope for the people of Afghanistan and central Asia.
