Some of us in the western Baluchistan believe in the idea of
political legitimacy and a principle which holds that political units and
states borders should not cut across ethnic borders. We believe that the Baluch have existed as
long as human lived in society and the Baluch nation is a natural result of
humans living together in society. We don’t hold opinions that the other
definitions of national are inappropriate.
There are various traditional groups (Tribal chiefs and
religious clergies) who have claim to the legitimacy to rule Baluchistan. The
nationalist believe that the nation is a legitimate source of power than the
monarch, chiefs and clergies. The
absolute claim to divine power of the king, the tribal chiefs and religious clergy’s
has been contested by the Baluch nationalism. The Baluch nationalist also
rejected the Marxist theory of unification of the proletarian.
Sovereignty lay exclusively with the people and should be
exercised through a social contract in which certain groups constitute nations
and select their leaders from among themselves (E. J. Sieyes).
It is nationalism that provokes the nation not a Monarch,
tribal chiefs or religious clergies in Baluchistan against occupiers. However the
traditionalists and traditional political parties are benefiting from the rise
of nationalism in Baluchistan. The traditionalists defending the Baluch culture
as well as religious who have been oppressed by theocratic state have been able
to make some gains. Nationalism is a form of politic that opposed to absolutism
within and it is directly in conflict over the sovereignty with the Iran.
